Lessons From a Leader

I have two leaders that have dramatically impacted my life throughout the years. Jesus and John Maxwell.

Ironically, over the past five years, I have become much closer to both of them! As I referenced in yesterday's blog post, about five years ago, I became more and more intentional about my time with God. I have to thank my friends Gabby and Michele for that. They were great role models in encouraging this daily action. In that time with Jesus each day, I have learned that He is my friend, mentor and shepherd. I can follow His teachings and really never get led astray. If I am confused, I can be still with Him (Psalm 46:10), if I am happy, I can rejoice with Him. No matter what I am going through, He is always my friend and confidant.

Then there is John Maxwell. How do I begin to thank him for the years of leadership that he has given to so many? He writes and writes and writes about ways that we can all learn from, both personally and professionally. For many years in our company, we studied the leadership lessons of John Maxwell, but most recently, he has become a personal mentor of mine, and for that I am so grateful. He has helped me to learn to live my life with intentionality, and more importantly, significance.

Today, I give honor to the best two leaders in my life, Jesus and John.

Obviously, I don't have a picture of me and Jesus (other than what is inscribed on my heart and in my mind), but this is my favorite picture of John and me from the country transformation launch in Papua New Guinea. If you want to learn more about the transformation John Maxwell is spending his "retirement years" doing, go to www.changeyourworld.com. If you want to join a transformation table, I am starting one on February 9th - email me, I would love to have you take part! It will change your life. (email link below)
