Starting My 14-Day Water Fast and Spiritual Journey

Tomorrow I begin a 14-day water fast, and more importantly, a spiritual journey.

I’ve prepared for this season for a while, but today something struck me. As I opened my devotional, the theme lined up perfectly with this next step. It felt like a gentle nudge from God saying, “Yes! This is the time.”

For the next several days, it will just be God and me. No social media, no email, no texting, no distractions, and no food. Just quiet, prayer, reflection, Scripture, and listening…and water!

Not punishment.

Not deprivation.

Not a test of willpower.

A holy pause.

Why I’m Stepping Away

Our world (my world) runs on constant noise…notifications, opinions, updates, and the endless rush of staying “connected.” But somewhere along the way, all that connection can drown out the voice that matters most.

During this fast, I want to remove everything that usually fills the gaps — the dopamine hits, the scrolling, the “busy,” and even the comfort of food…so I can ask a single, honest question:

What is God telling me?

I’ve gathered journal prompts I want to work through, but the one at the top of the list right now is this:

“Lord, what do You want to show me?”

My desire isn’t to achieve something — it’s to receive something.

Wisdom.

Clarity.

Healing.

Direction.

Or maybe simply a deeper awareness of His presence.

Fasting… and the Journey After

The fast itself will last 14 days, followed by a re-feeding period. So altogether, I’ll likely be “off the grid” for close to 21 days.

I know there will be moments when this feels hard. There may be emotions that surface I haven’t processed, or places in my heart that God gently shines a light on. But I’m actually grateful for that. Growth rarely happens in comfort.

And as I move into 2026, my prayer is simple:

God, lead the way — in my personal growth, my relationships, and my purpose.

Listening Without the Noise

When there’s nothing left to reach for — no food, no phone, no digital escape — what remains is honesty.

Honesty with God.

Honesty with myself.

And my hope is that, without interference, I’ll hear Him more clearly.

Not because He suddenly speaks louder — but because I finally slowed down enough to listen.

Will I Share the Experience?

Maybe.

If God leads me to, I plan to come back and recap the journey day-by-day — not to glorify the fast itself, but to share what He revealed along the way.

My prayer is that someone reading may be encouraged to create more intentional space with God in their own life, whatever that looks like.

But for now, this season is meant to be lived quietly — one prayer, one page, one day at a time.

A Final Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your Word, Your wisdom, and Your patience.

As I step into this time with You, quiet my mind, soften my heart, and guide my steps. Help me trust the process — and trust You even more.

Here’s to beginning 2026 not with resolutions, but with surrender — letting God lead the way.
