"Vacilando"

You may be like me when I first heard it - what in the world does that word mean?

During my weekly Mastermind call, one of the members, Matthew, said the word (of course, I wrote it down, spelling it completely wrong at first). But when he explained the meaning, it really hit me. It's exactly where I am right now and exactly what I needed to hear.

Matthew's definition during the call was "Move with intention, with no specific action." Later, when I asked him to send it to me again, this is what he shared:

"'Vacilando' is a Spanish term, specifically the present participle of the verb vacilar, that has several meanings depending on the context, including hesitating or wobbling. However, it also carries the more specific and often colloquial meaning of traveling or wandering with a focus on the experience of the journey rather than the destination - a concept similar to the Japanese."

"Traveling or wandering with a focus on the experience of the journey, rather than the destination."

Funny, that is what I am really trying to do in this season of my life.

I have committed the next six months to BEING STILL.

That means no new job, no new company, no major purchases over $5,000, and no life-changing commitments. If you know me, this will be VERY HARD.

The day after that call, I read this in my Daily Hope Devotional and read a message that made me smile and say, "Okay, yes, God. I hear you!"

So much of the time, I'm busy planning and not listening. Taking the time to pause and really listen to what God has in store for me, rather than just doing, doing, doing, is something I need to do more of!

When I read this passage, I knew that I was being reminded to slow down... To enjoy the journey.

To see the path God has already laid out for me.

Move with intention, with no specific action.

And to keep my eyes open along the way.
