See the Beauty in Others

I remember when my son was in college, and I was dropping something off at his dorm room, and one of his friends I had never met turned to me and said, "Wow, you are really pretty." I was stunned. I thought, "That is so sweet; I don't know if I would have the guts to say that to someone I don't know."

That was about 12 years ago. Today, I try my best to practice that. I take the time to tell a person the beauty I see inside them. I know it made me feel good, and I hope to do that for others...however awkward it feels.

I challenge you today when you are out and about, whether at the grocery store, at your job, or just walking by someone; if you see something about them that makes you smile, tell them.

Do you like the sound of their laughter? Tell them.

Do you like their smile? Tell them.

Do you like the saying on their shirt? Tell them.

Do you like the way their hair looks? Tell them.

Do you like the way they helped another person? Tell them.

When you see the beauty in others, TELL THEM. You have no idea how that little vote of encouragement will impact them. They say it takes three positive moments to overcome one negative one. Most people have three negative moments in their day, even before they leave their house. So, if you can be at least ONE of those positive moments, isn't it worth it?

The quote below came from my "Five Minute Journal," which I use daily to remind myself of my gratitude for the things around me. Each day, I list three positive things (things I am grateful for). By doing this, I will at least overtake one of the negatives I face daily. If you want a Five Minute Journal to help start your day, please request one on my blog. I would LOVE to send you one for free!

Now...today, see the beauty in others, AND TELL THEM!

If you would like a copy of any of the devotionals or books I reference, please request one below, and I would be honored to send you one. Please reference the title of the post/devotional to ensure I send you the correct devotional/author. See my mission in the "About Me" link.
